Scott Woodard

Scott Woodard joined the U.S. State Department’s Foreign Service in 2002 as an Economic Officer. During his career, he has been posted to U.S. embassies and consulates in Manama, Bahrain; Vilnius, Lithuania; Chennai, India; Bern, Switzerland; and Munich, Germany, working on a wide variety of political, economic, and commercial issues.

During his most recent overseas tour he served as Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan in the Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam. Following that tour, he worked in Washington for U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire as a foreign affairs advisor. Currently, he serves as the Acting Director in the State Department’s office dedicated to promoting the diplomacy of clean energy.

Scott earned a master’s degree from the University of Virginia and a bachelor’s degree from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. He speaks German, Hungarian, and some Lithuanian, Spanish, and French.
